Back in April, I mentioned that a select few in my office had decided to create a grassroots effort to make our company “Green” from within…  Yesterday, that effort began with the Green Elves’ first email to the company.  Our goal is to make this fun and useful for Colliers Atlanta and in the process save money for our company / help the environment.  Again, I must say that I don’t like the name or logo, but do like the process and effort….  The below email can also serve as guidelines for you to do the same in your office.  See the email below:

Greetings Colliers Atlanta!!  When you arrive at the office Tuesday morning you will notice some exciting changes.  With the help of a team of Green Elves you have started the process of going green without evening knowing it!  This will not only help the environment, it will help reduce the company’s overhead and allow you to legitimately “talk the talk” when dealing with clients who are concerned about the environment.

Here are some simple things you can do to help Colliers achieve these goals and to lessen your own impact on the environment –

Print to PDF!  Everyone now has a .pdf print driver installed on their desktops…instead of printing, scanning and e-mailing, print directly to .pdf!

Choose Black and White!  Color copies are a whopping 7 – 10 cents per page!  Unless you’re sending out a marketing piece, choose B&W, which is included in the monthly cost of the copiers and printers.

Turn off your computer!  Colliers now has Citrix remote log in capability which allows you to log on from home even if your computer is off.  If you do not have this set up at home speak with Charlsie or Jim to initiate.

Turn off the lights!  Do this not only when you leave for the day but also when you leave for a meeting or lunch. 

Recycle! Almsot everyone now has recycle bins at their desks and there are recycle bins in the copy rooms and next to each common area printer which will be emptied regularly.

Choose Glass!  The breakrooms are now stocked with plates, glassware and silverware for your use and will be run through the dishwasher each night.  

The Green Elves will track the savings and your successes and we will update you periodically!
